Check your manual for what to do if your washing machine won’t drain.

Check drain hose problems

Remove the drain hose from the back of the washer. Run a moderate to high pressure water stream through it. If it is clogged, this should force the clog out. Replace the hose on the washing machine following these few simple steps: the outlet is not more than 2.8 feet (85cm) from the floor; the end of the hose is not more than 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) into the drain hole; the drain hole is not taped shut; and the hose is not bent. Then run a rinse/spin cycle. If it still doesn’t drain, proceed to the next step.

Check the pump

First, unplug the machine. The pump is usually in the back for top loaders and in the front below the door for front loaders. It can also be hidden behind the front panel.

When you find the pump, there will be a section that is round with an oval handle in the center. Turn it counter-clockwise to remove the screen. You might find some change and pieces of clothing inside. Rinse everything from the screen and stick your finger into the hole (on the right) to check that nothing is stuck. Than replace the filter.

Ps.: Make sure you have a bucket and towels at hand to catch any water that pours out.
