This is one of the most frustrating faults, especially because washing machine doors almost never jam shut before the washing starts. No, they normally wait until they’ve finished washing your clothing, and then they decide to stay closed. Can be rather annoying…So here are some causes and a simple manual to solve the problem in a DIY way.
Reasons
The door could stay jammed even when water has been properly pumped out if there is a faulty pressure switch or a blockage in the pressure system, as it could be trapping the air that's operating the door lock.
On some machines if the pressure switch doesn’t reset, it keeps the door lock energized. Turning off the machine at the mains should allow the door lock to cool down and open after a few minutes.
Interlocks can take some time to release at the end of the cycle, so be patient. The most common cause is water left in machine. Try running a spin/drain cycle. If this fails, the machine can be drained by placing the drain hose lower than the drum (into a bucket or tray).
